Jokulsarlon is the bigget and most famous glacial lagoon in the south-eastern part of Iceland. It began to form in 1930s, when the Vatnajökull glacier started to melt and retreat. In less than a century, it has grown covering an area of approximately 18 square km. After several days of heavy rain, I have been lucky enough to witness this spectacular sunset at 11pm.
Beautiful colours, love how the sun is glowing on the water. This look like something from a science fiction movie, maybe something from another planet. Has an eerie feel to it. Again, this is like another world. I'm reminded of some Bruce Pennington art when I look at this photo (he was a fantasy/horror/sci fi book cover artist). I love the reflections on the water, the way the rocks you can see on the water have an orange glow and how you can see rocks under the water. This looks like something you could make with a 3D imaging program, which means you're pretty good if you can make it look like that. Very other-wordly and beautiful.
